A home of our own, and flooding in IOWA!
Well, good news first. We got an accepted contract and now it is up to the bank. We dropped off paperwork today and need to go fill out the actual loan application ASAP. Then the ball is actually rolling. Possibly closing in mid-July, I have got to pack, clean, and pack some more. But I can't wait to get to the next step in our lives!! Well the flooding in IOWA is terrible, I am from the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area, it is so depressing to see all that devastation. I was so sad to see all the place I have grown up under water! Besides my whole family is there. None were effected but my dad. He was evacuated and they just got to go see the house yesterday. I am sure it is not in good shape. They have already applied for FEMA, but we know from Katrina how long that can take. I will be praying for them and the cities. It will be so hard but they will re-build! I will see my hometowns prevail! I am really sad for my dad though, he was diagnosed with cancer in December of 2007 so he has been out of work since then. Now all the flooding on top is not making things any better. So we are praying for them as well.

Everything is coming together!
Well, some more good news! We have almost got an accepted contract. They just need to sign and so do we and it should be set!
I am so excited, last night I had a little breakdown while cleaning. It is just so frustrating to not have any rom for anything, feeling like I will never get organized. I can' t wait to strat packing and throwing stuff away! Clean out the house, clean out my life!
Ever since I have started this new job, I have been itching to get more organized. This is my mother's genes coming out, I can hear her sighing and saying "FINALLY, halleujah!!!". My husband probably is too. I just have felt the need to refocus my life and whats going on with me.
I have a feeling some really good news is coming soon as well. I will keep you posted. Anyway, back to work. Have a great day!
Love,
MelissaBee

We found a house!!!
YAY! We finally agreed on a house. I am so excited, we are going with the smaller, great location one. It will be so great to have a place of our own, and a place for the dogs!
Tonight we are meeting with the couple who lives there now to make an offer and work out the details. We looked at a different house this weekend but there was just too much I was not comfortable with. It just did not feel right. But we drove by this one after all day of running around and both just looked at it and said..."we love this house". That was it, it was decided, that is our home.
The people who are there now have done some great updates but i can't wait to make it our own. I have so much stuff packed away, because I kind of rebelled against decorating our apartment, I can't wait to put in its place. We just have to work out a few minor details with the contract and do whatever the bank needs and we will be set.
Ahhhhhh, what a great feeling. We can't wait to move in and make it home.

House Hunting
UGGGGGGHHHHH!!!! This has got to be the most frustrating thing in my life right now. We have been looking at houses for months now. The reason we have been looking for so long is partly because, I am impatient and we thought we would be able to get out of our lease. HA HA, not going to happen. But our lease will be up soon, and NOW is crunch time.
I can't find anything that I absolutely love and it is driving me nuts. All i want is a fairly nice 2-3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, fenced backyard, not tiny home. Am I really asking too much, oh and of course it has to be affordable.
We had found one house we really loved, it need a little work but had great space and was in a great neighborhood. BUT because of the stupid lease problem we missed out on it.
Then my husbands co-worker came to him with his house for sale. It is really cute, in an even better neighborhood, but no fence, one bathroom and smaller for more money. It is an older house they have updated a lot, has lots of character, but we feel it is somewhat over priced. We are going to dinner with them on Monday, so we will see what we come up with.
Wish us luck....

First Blog
Hello, this is my first post here on Blogger.com. I have never done this before but I find myself with a lot more time on my hands.
I just recently started a new job and I am really enjoying it. I was working at a fast paced animal clinic, that had to have been the most stressful job i have ever had. Dealing with people, their pets, and the money they don't have can really take its toll. People always assumed they deserved free pet care...but I digress.
I am a native Iowan and have lived in Arkansas for 3 years just recently. I have been married to my wonderful husband for a little over 2 years. We are currently living in a apartment that we have long since outgrown. But we are looking for out first house and hopefully it will be soon. We also (in our small apartment) have 2 dogs and a cat yippee! They are so much fun, but i can't wait til they get to experience a yard. No children yet, but soon. I really do appreciate the warmer weather here in Arkansas, and i am glad i missed out on the 4 straight months of frigidly cold, snow covered winter in Iowa this year. I think they are just now thawing out...
So with my new job i am able to read a lot more, which my husband will enjoy. I am also hoping to get more organized, so if anyone has some super organizational skills please share. I also love to cook, but need to develop it some, my repertoire needs to be expanded. So recipes are also helpful. AND good book suggestions. If I can think of anything useful i can share, i will do so.
Thanks,
MelissaBee
